A few ideas here...
---------------------
SUGGESTION #1: SPECIAL RELEASES
Any chance of special releases minis being added, too?
For example, I participated in the D&D 4th Edition Gaming Day, and not only each player got to keep his mini, which was a minis with a differently colored paint scheme, but also the module's monsters were given to the DMs as gift, too.
I know for a fact that the minis have something like "4eGD2/5" written on the back for the dwarf fighter (i.e. "4th edition gaming day, miniature #2 of 5"), so those minis are different.
If you really want your database to be "'complete", you should also include special releases.
---------------------
SUGGESTION #2: RELEASE STATUS
Each miniatures release should have a "status":
Limited (or special) release, currently available, soon to be released, discontinued, etc. Release date could also be cool to have. This would be displayed say for example like this:
Release: Harbinger (2003) {Discontinued}
---------------------
SUGGESTION #3: RELEASE SYMBOL
These should appear right in front of the release name noy only in the releases list but also directly in each minaiture listing.
---------------------
SUGGESTION #4: LINKS FOR DUPLICATES MINIS
When a miniature has an indentical mini that differsd only by color scheme and what is written under the base, then it should be treated as two different minis entries in the database but each should have a link to its "twin".
Example:
Elf Warlock appears in both 4eGD (D&D 4th Edition Gaming Day special release) and in the Starter set, while the other Starter minis come from the Dungeons of Dread release
Such minis could also have the attribute "multi" so that one could search all such minis.
---------------------
SUGGESTION #5: 'ALL-IN-ONE' SCREEN
I like using the http://www.ddmdb.com site because there you can see ALL the miniatures in the database in a single screen.
